Well, another life lesson learned. I've known it all the while, but when it is actually applied to your own life it seems like you are learning it for the first time.
I give credit to the principal I'm currently working with, William(Bill) Suggs. His perspective on life has certainly made an impact on me that I am trying to share with my own family. He is an army reservist and has served in Iraq. He was gone from his wife and 2 kids for over a year and has now been back one year this month.
He has a phrase he uses when simple, positive things occur; from finding a penny to a student telling the truth. He sums it up by saying out loud, "It's just one of life's little joys". He is constantly appreciative of good moments, no matter how trivial they are. It is a great reminder that life is good and good things are always happening, even though we are bombarded by negative media and sometimes overwhelmed by personal disappointments. I am trying to verbally use that phrase around my family to remind us how blessed we are....the scale definitely tips to the blessings side in our life. Here's a question....what happened to you today that was "one of life's little joys"? I bet you can think of more than one. Its amazing when your start noting them, how your attitude changes and you wear a small smile more often! Thanks Bill!
