Mother's Day 2010

Mother's Day was a nice, relaxing day.  The boys each made me a picture.  Kash planted a flower in a pot from preschool.  Wyatt gave me a recipe book they put together in Kindergarten.  The funnest gift was from J.R.......a pink camoflauge compound bow!!  I love it!  I have been practicing out in the field a lot so that I will be ready for the hunt in the fall.  I don't have any pictures yet, but I'm sure we will get some.

We went to church and, like always, they give a small gift to all the mothers.  This year's gift was an excellent choice....chocolate and caramel coveredl pretzel sticks!  The best of sweet and salty!  They were yummy!

After church, I think I disappointed JR a little because I didn't choose to go fishing (it was a great day to go); but I chose to go on a ride up over Cascade Springs.  It was great.  We drove over a trail that ended up making the ride longer.  We stopped to let the boys explore along the creek, and stopped again at some old cattle pens.  They had a blast and it was really fun.  We took some self portraits and let Wyatt take a few too that are posted below.  It was a great Mother's Day!

The First Stitches

Wyatt is the recipient of the first stitches needed between the boys, at age 6.  He was running down the hall and decided to jump over the sun shining on the floor.  However, when he jumped, he didn't navigate the slight jog in the wall and hit is head right where the two walls meet, on the corner.  THere was a huge 'thud' followed by a blood curdling scream.  I jumped up and ran to see what had happened.  Blood had started to pour out of it and he was panicking.  JR stepped in and after a minute, got it to stop bleeding, but the wound was laying open. Since you can't stick a band aid on hair, we knew that it needed stitches.  We took him to the E.R., where Dr. Tayler put in 5 blue stitches.  He said the blue stitches were just for the cool kids.  Wyatt was pretty scared, but brave.  We only managed one picture, but it is one to help us remember our first stitches experience!

Spring Soccer 2010

This was Wyatt's first soccer experience in Utah.  We are so glad that he is taking a liking to a sport.  T-ball was boring for him (and us!), wrestling was traumatic, but soccer seems to be something that fits his personality.  He is a power kicker and usually kicks the ball clear across the field when he gets a chance.  He scored at least one goal in every game, usually 2.  He also likes to be a self-appointed goalie.  He tries to run ahead of the mob to get infront of the ball and is ready to deflect any attempt from the other team.  We found out that Heber offers Fall soccer too, so we are anxiously waiting to get him registered for that!

Spring Break in St. George

We were able to take a little vacation to St. George.  It was wonderful! The weather was absolutely perfect, not too hot, but nice enough to get some sun.  I pride myself on the fact that with a little planning, we never paid more than $5 per person on any meal!!!  Kids eat free at IHOP, Denny's has a $2 value menu, we had coupons for a popular pizza place, and bought cereal and milk for breakfast in our hotel room; those were just a few of the great deals I managed to find.

We had fun hiking, geocaching, playing at Fiesta Fun Center, but I think the kids liked the hotel pool the best!  The whole fear of water seemed to disappear this time after we bought Wyatt some goggles and Kash some water wings. The were splashing around like crazy and I would dare say that Wyatt is almost officially "swimming".

We love St. George.....maybe we should have moved there instead of Heber???? ok, maybe not!

Easter in Plymouth, Utah, April 4, 2010

We spent Easter up in Plymouth visiting Marilyn and Kim.  We love visiting their home and always have a good time.  We spent time outside looking at the owls, looking for eggs, and enjoying the nice weather.  We also enjoyed a Wii bowling tournament which got pretty competitive.

Grandma got he boys a dying kit for Easter eggs, so they had fun dying them.  They turned out great, but the Easter bunny didn't hide them, he used plastic filled eggs....so we got to enjoyed eating these!

Here are all the eggs, we used a crayon to draw on them.  The boys loved it!Kash's stash!

Wyatt's basket overfloweth!

We kept our eyes towards the sky the whole time we were at Marilyn's.  There was a male and female owl couple living in her trees.  This was the best picture I took of the male.  The female stayed in the nest, guarding two chicks that had just hatched. Pretty impressive birds.  I loved hearing them hoot back and forth to each other.

Wyatt spent a lot of time with the camera, taking dozens of pictures, most of which we deleted because they were blurry or of stuffed animals.  This one turned out pretty cute!

Prior to the Easter bunny visiting, Grandma gave the boys bubbles which entertained them for quite a while!

A New Hobby???

Just messing around with the camera on Easter weekend at Marilyn's house.  Pretty cool things laying around there.  Don't really know what I'm doing, but I think its a lot of fun!

The train woke us up at 7:00am on a Saturday morning, which was earlier than its normal run.  Then we realized it kept coming back and forth by the house within minutes of each pass.  So we had to check it out.  We found out that it was a chartered photo op train for a bunch of photographers and film makers.  I joined in, probably making them a little angry, and took some of my own pictures.  I think they turned out pretty cool.  A great way to document the "Heber Creeper", now called the Heber Valley RailRoad.  The train will be a lasting memory for all of us, I'm sure.  The boys loved to wave at it, the dogs howl at it, we put up Christmas lights for the Polar Expree and get woken up frequently when it comes back up the canyon on its last run.

Photo Op

We had a rude awakening on Valentine's Day.  The train of the Heber Valley Railroad; or what used to be called the Heber Creeper, was blowing its horn at about 7:00am.  This is unusual for any day of the week, but especially frustrating on a Saturday.  I looked out and the train was going up and down and up and down the tracks over and over. I also saw a group of about 20 people at the train crossing, so I went out to see what was going on.  The train had been chartered by a bunch of professional photographers for some photo ops.  I, jumping on the opportunity, grabbed my camera and joined in.  I figured the worst they could do was tell me to leave......and even then, I could just go down the field (our own property) and continue to take pictures.  The actually didn't have a problem with me there, so I clicked away and here's a few that I got.  Mind you, I am not a professional, so please, go easy on the critique!
I threw this pictures in just because I think it is a good picture of JR!
