After very limited camping opportunities in Idaho, we're back to camping in Utah! We planned a Labor Day weekend campout with Marilyn, Kim, Melinda, and Kimball. Everyone was excited to go. Melinda and Marilyn both brought 4 wheelers. We had our trailer, a tent for Marilyn and Kim and a tent for Melinda and Kimball. The weather was looking great, we were almost ready to go by Thurs night so we could leave right when JR got home Friday.
Then......the chain of unfortunate events started happening. Wendy, our daycare provider, called about 1:00pm while I was working to tell me Kash woke up from his nap with a temperature. I went and got him, sure enough it was 101!!. He slept most the afternoon and the temp went down and his personality went back to his normal self by the time we arrived to our camp spot. We set up, enjoyed hot dogs over the fire, went on a few 4 wheeler rides, and realized our batteries on the trailer were dying!!! That means no lights, no water pump( a must for the toilet!) and no furnace!. We woke up Sat., realizing we didn't have any forks, ran back down to the house to get the generator (and forks) and Wyatt started complaining that he didn't feel good...oh no.... we tookd his temp and it was 101!!! He slept most of Saturday in the trailer. We all felt bad for him, he had been so excited to camp! The generator worked great and we had a pleasant day. We even went on an adventure. JR, Kash and I went for a ride, hoping Kash would fall asleept. Unfortunately, we picked a road we really didn't remember, and it ended up being barely passable in the truck! JR had it in 4 wheel drive the whole time, and poor Kash was bounching around in his car seat, unable to fall asleep! It took us 2 hours to get back to our campsite!
Wyatt was feeling a much better by Sat night, and enjoyed marshmellows and an ice cream bar- what every sick child needs! Sunday morning we awoke to Melinda's grumbling about her tent leaking...it had rained during the night! They packed up and left quickly to go home for work. We enjoyed a pancake breakfast that was interrupted by Kash throwing up....great...what's the deal with my kids??? After that he was back to his normal self and eating good....I don't understand him. When we arrived home, Wyatt was in tears complaining his throat hurt. Let's just say that I will be glad when the weekend is over and everyone is back to normal!! All in all, it was still nice to get away, up in the mountains and enjoy the campfire and good food. We will try again before the weather gets too cold!
